Why is this site here?
I used to collect comic books, and as anyone involved in that hobby can tell
you, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide is an indispensable tool
for building your collection. While the actual prices listed are debatable,
the Guide also tells you who published the comic books, the dates of
publication, and how many issues were published. There was a half-hearted
attempt at such a guide for Men's Magazines, back in the 90's, but that one
publication got a lot wrong and mysteriously ended at the letter V, as if
the publisher had a set number of pages and just stopped when he reached it.
This site will be an attempt to do for men's magazines what the great
Comics.Org does for comic books. You will see
a list of issues, including the publication date, the publisher's name, and if
I can find a little history about the magazine or the creators, I'll include
that too.
To be honest, I don't expect this project to ever be completed. There is
just so much info and so many magazines published, that I don't forsee ever
getting all of the data in here. But we can sure make a dent in it!
This site is totally independent of my main site, VintageGirlieMags.Com. It
will have its own set of users and contributors. Hopefully, we'll find enough
people interested in this project to keep it active and constantly updated. If
not, well, I'll do what I can, but I won't be spending every waking moment
working on this project.
